Look out Maokai saplings incoming!

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Maokai’s sapling aimed straight at you! Hope you weren’t sitting in a bush or anything. Let’s find somewhere comfy to go over the rest of this patch note. We have some fun new game modes to try out, a brand new Wild Pass to grind, and our regularly scheduled balance changes. Welcome to Patch 5.1c!

NEW

NEW CHAMPIONS

MAOKAI, THE TWISTED TREANT

Maokai is a rageful, towering treant who fights the unnatural horrors of the Shadow Isles. He was twisted into a force of vengeance after a magical cataclysm destroyed his home, surviving undeath only through the Waters of Life infused within his heartwood. Once a peaceful nature spirit, Maokai now furiously battles to banish the scourge of unlife from the Shadow Isles and restore his home to its former beauty.

CHAMPION CHANGES

ZED

Zed is not doing so hot compared to other assassins, especially in the early game. We’re tweaking some of his numbers to ensure he’s keeping up.

Death Mark

  • Damage of the mark: 25/40/55% damage dealt while the mark is active → 30%/42.5%/55% damage dealt while the mark is active

WUKONG

Wukong hasn’t been able to clear Jungle camps as fast as other Junglers, resulting in him lagging behind. These changes will make sure he’s able to keep up the pace so he can better help out his lanes as well.

GOLDEN STAFF

  • Damage: 50/70/90/110 + 35/40/45/50% Attack Damage → 60/80/100/120 + 35/40/45/50% Attack Damage

WARRIOR TRICKSTER

  • Cooldown: 17/16/15/14s → 14/13.5/13/12.5s

KENNEN

You know when you shuffle your feet and then touch a door handle? That little static shock is what playing Kennen has been feeling like lately. Not ideal. We’re buffing his base stats as well as his damage and cooldown so he can really bring the tempest.

  • Base Attack Damage: 58 → 62
  • Base Armor: 40 → 43

ELECTRICAL SURGE

  • Passive damage: 35/45/55/65 + 70/80/90/100% Attack Damage + 30% Ability Power → 45/55/65/75 + 70/80/90/100% Attack Damage + 30% Ability Power

LIGHTNING RUSH

  • Cooldown: 9/8/7/6s → 7.5/7/6.5/6s

RAKAN

As an offensive support, Rakan is more fragile than a baby bird (with prettier feathers). How can we expect him to fly into the enemies when he’s crumbling so easily? We’re tweaking his numbers so he can finally soar.

  • Base Health: 540 → 570
  • Base Armor: 40 → 43

BATTLE DANCE

  • Shield value: 35/70/105/140 + 65% Ability Power → 50/80/110/140 + 65% Ability Power

DIANA

Diana’s been feeling a little underwhelming lately. I guess the recent eclipse is pretty distracting. We’re gonna make sure her spells still pack a punch though.

CRESCENT STRIKE

  • Cooldown: 9/8/7/6s → 8/7/6/5s
  • Mana: 55/65/75/85 → 50/55/60/65

PALE CASCADE

  • Damage: 25/40/55/70 + 20% Ability Power → 25/40/55/70 + 25% Ability Power
  • Shield value: 40/60/80/100 + 40% Ability Power → 50/70/90/110 + 40% Ability Power
  • Increase in shield value after 3rd sphere detonation : 40/60/80/100 + 40% Ability Power → 50/70/90/110 + 40% Ability Power

VI

All that armor on her isn’t just for looks! It should mean something, so we’re buffing Vi’s survivability to make sure she can go toe to toe with any enemy Junglers that come her way.

  • Base Armor: 34 → 40

BLAST SHIELD

  • Cooldown: 12/11/10/9s → 10/9/8/7s

SHYVANA

Shyvana is a champion that needs time and farm to ramp up to reach her final form. However, the overall speed of the game recently has been outpacing her. We’re buffing her numbers to make sure she’s able to keep up.

Fury of the Dragonborn

  • Grants 12 → 15 stacks of Draconic Bloodline by taking down enemy champions, slaying the Rift Herald or Baron Nashor

Burnout

  • Damage per second: 35/50/65/80 + 30% bonus Attack Damage → 40/55/70/85 + 30% bonus Attack Damage

GRAGAS

Gragas has not been performing up to par so we are making him a little tankier to be suitable for any situation the Rift might throw at him.

Happy Hour

  • Health Regen: 7% max Health → 8.5% max Health

Drunken Rage

  • Damage reduction: 8/11/14/17% + 0.04% Ability Power → 11/13/15/17% + 0.04% Ability Power
  • Damage: 20/60/100/140+90% Ability Power→ 50/80/110/140+90% Ability Power

EZREAL

Ezreal’s signature is his ability to reposition himself as he sees fit. We’re buffing him slightly so he can have better maneuverability no matter what situation he finds himself in.

  • Base Armor: 30 → 34

Mystic Shot

  • Damage: 35/70/105/140+120% Attack Damage + 30% Ability Power → 50/85/120/155+120% Attack Damage + 30% Ability Power

Arcane Shift

  • Cooldown: 28/24/20/16s → 24/21/18/15s

YONE

We’re tweaking Yone’s numbers ever so slightly to make sure he’s in line with everyone else.

  • Base Armor: 40 → 37

MORTAL STEEL

  • Damage: 25/50/75/100 + 100% Attack Damage → 30/50/70/90 + 100% Attack Damage
  • Damage to monsters: 80% → 70%

VIEGO

Viego 🤝 Crit items. These changes will make sure his bursts don’t become ridiculous.

BLADE OF THE RUINED KING

  • Damage of the second hit: 30% Attack Damage → 20% Attack Damage
  • Damage from Active: (25/45/65/85 + 80% Attack Damage ) × (1 + 100% ×Crit rate)→ (25/45/65/85 + 80% Attack Damage ) × (1 + 75% × Crit rate)

HEARTBREAKER

  • Damage: 120%~240% Attack Damage × (1+ Crit rate) → 120%~210% Attack Damage × (1+Crit rate)
  • Bonus damage: (12/16/20 + 7.5% bonus Attack Damage)% target’s lost Heath → (12/16/20 + 6% bonus Attack Damage)% target’s lost Heath

LILLIA

Lillia is knocking her enemies over like bowling pins. We’re nerfing her damage before she scores another strike.

BLOOMING BLOWS

  • Damage: 40/60/80/100 + 45% Ability Power → 35/55/75/95 + 40% Ability Power
  • True damage from the outer ring: 40/60/80/100 + 45% Ability Power → 35/55/75/95+40% Ability Power

WATCH OUT! EEP!

  • Damage: 70/110/150/190 + 40% Ability Power → 70/110/150/190 + 35% Ability Power
  • Center damage: 140/220/300/380 + 80% Ability Power→ 140/220/300/380 + 70% Ability Power

HECARIM

Hecarim has been rampaging through his enemies effortlessly. We’re tweaking some numbers and optimzing how his Rampage works to make sure he’s grounded.

  • Growth Health: 120 → 112

RAMPAGE

  • [Removed] Rampage mechanism: first click to charge, then click to cast in advance
  • [New] Charging Hecarim’s halberd for 0.75s, increasing the area he deals damage to. Automatically casts when fully charged, dealing (5/15/25/35 + 110% Attack Damage) physical damage.

DEVASTATING CHARGE

  • Continuous movement speed increase: 65% → 55%

MISS FORTUNE

Post rework Miss Fortune has not been as impactful as we had hoped. We’re increasing her damage so she can remain a good choice as a strong ADC.

Double Up

  • Damage: 40/80/120/160 + 110/115/120/125% Attack Damage + 35% Ability Power → 60/95/130/165 + 115/120/125/130% Attack Damage + 35% Ability Power

Strut

  • Cooldown reduction after activating full stack of Love Tap: 1s → 2s

Make It Rain

  • Damage per 0.25s: 10/16/22/28 + 10% Ability Power → 15/20/25/30 + 10% Ability Power
  • Cooldown: 16/14/12/10s →14.5/13/11.5/10s
  • Mana: 80/80/80/80 → 65/70/75/80

JAX

Babe wake up it’s time for the Jax rework. We wanted to make him smoother to play, as well as stronger in teamfights. Jax’s rework will be live on June 20 at 00:01 UTC

Leap Strike

  • Damage: 70/125/180/235 + (100% bonus Attack Damage + 60% Ability Power) → 70/125/180/235 (+100% bonus Attack Damage)

Empower

  • [New] damage to monsters: 125%

Counter Strike

  • Damage: (55/90/125/160 + 50% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage → (35/75/115/155 + 3% target’s max Health + 70% Ability Power) magic damage

Grandmaster's Might

  • [Removed] Grandmaster’s Might
  • [Adjustment] Passive: Deals an additional (60/110/160 + 70% Ability Power) magic damage with every 3 consecutive basic attacks he launches within 3s
  • [New] Active: Swings his stave, dealing (150/250/350 + 100% Ability Power) magic damage to nearby enemies. When hitting only one enemy champion, gains 30/50/70 (+ 40% bonus Attack Damage) Armor and Magic Resist equal to 60% of that Armor. If he hits more than one champion, he gains bonus 15/20/25 (+ 10% bonus Attack Damage) Armor and Magic Resist equals to 60% of that Armor for 8s per additional champion hit. During this time, his size increases by 10%, and he deals additional magic damage with every second attack.
  • [New] Damage to monsters: 110%

ROD OF AGES

We’re making sure Rod of Ages is providing more stats to champs in the late game so that it remains an attractive pickup for players.

Veteran:

  • Each stack provides 20 Health, 10 Mana, and 6 Ability Power, stacking at 1 every 45 seconds. Max of 10 stacks, providing 200 Health, 100 Mana, and 60 Ability Power → Each stack provides 25 Health, 10 Mana, and 6 Ability Power, stacking 1 every 40 seconds. Max of 10 stacks, providing 250 Health, 100 Mana, and 60 Ability Power

RUNE CHANGES

RESOLVE: OVERGROWTH

With recent items granting bonus max Health, Overgrowth is making some champions too tanky to handle. We’re nerfing it slightly.

  • Gains bonus 3.5% max Health up to 30 stacks. → Gains bonus 3% max Health up to 30 stacks.
