Rift Report: June 9th Edition
Hi everyone! Welcome back to our second edition of Rift Report! This week we’re taking a look at our Anti-Cheat Update we released at the start of the patch and highlighting another creator from our community! Let’s dive in.
ANTI-CHEAT UPDATE
At the start of Patch 6.1 we rolled out some updates to mVG, aka Embedded Vanguard. You can learn more about the update here. Since the update has now been live for about two months now, we wanted to give you an update on how things have been.
First and foremost, Vanguard has increased the visibility of cheaters in game (using map hacks, FOV hacks, and/or scripts) by an order of magnitude, with the thousands of bans equaling that increased order since launch. On average, there were about .13% of ranked games with cheaters in them (and more for PvP and Adventure Modes, but we’ve left that out for obvious reasons, although why someone would cheat in an ARAM is beyond us). We saw a decrease from the start of the launch where it was sitting closer to .8%, to now where it’s sitting closer to a cool .02%. Remember cheats and cheaters are a forever battle so we won’t see it at 0, but we’ll keep it as close to there as we can. We’re constantly updating our system so we can stay one step ahead of cheaters, but if you do feel that there was a game that you played and someone on your team or the enemy team was using hacks or scripts, make sure to report them or reach out to our player support team and we will investigate.
We’re happy with how things have gone since this update and are glad that we can fight to keep games fair for you while you’re on the Rift. We’ll continue to do periodic check-ins with you all, but in the meantime the team is going to continue working behind the scenes to create the best anti-cheat system they can to ensure all your games on the Rift stay fun and fair.
