Wild Rift Organized Play Summary
Are you looking to organize a League of Legends: Wild Rift tournament in your market, and seeking guidance on how to get started? The Southeast Asia League of Legends: Wild Rift 3rd Party Organized Play Guideline provides a quick overview of the type of tournaments you can organize in this region, whether it’s a friendly battle with your friends or a more competitive event within your community.
General rules for all non-Major tournaments in Southeast Asia:
- You may charge an entry fee for your Competition. Entry fee revenue must be used solely to help offset the Competition Costs (such as venue, web hosting, casters, etc.) or towards the Competition’s prize pool
- You may crowdfund to help offset the Competition Costs, but any and all contributions from crowdfunding must go directly to the prize pool for the Competition or towards the Competition Costs
- You can offer cash, cash-equivalent items, and/or in-game items as prizes
- You may broadcast on any online platform
- You may not broadcast your tournament on TV
- At Riot Games Southeast Asia’s discretion, we may support tournaments with IP use, promotional support and prize support in the form of in-game content
- In consideration of Riot Games granting you the Community Competition License, you agree that we can choose to promote your Competition, and may use the results of your Competition to qualify players for Riot sponsored competitions
- Additionally, by operating or sponsoring a competition using the Community Competition License, you agree to license to Riot Games, for free and forever, any rights that you may have in the broadcasted content, highlights, video, still content, news, and all other content generated by the Competition for us to copy, modify, distribute, or publicly display such content, or to sublicense those rights as we see fit
- You must additionally include the following notice in a clear and conspicuous manner on your competition website and any competition materials: “This competition is not affiliated with or sponsored by Riot Games, Inc., or League of Legends: Wild Rift Esports”
- All tournament must be approved by Riot Games Southeast Asia, so please register your tournament via this form
In 2021, Riot Games Southeast Asia has separated organized play into five distinct categories:
- Community Tournament
- Esports Team Community Tournament
- Branded Tournament
- Collegiate Tournament
- Tier 1 Tournament
Here are some guidelines for each tournament category:
- Community Tournament
- Organizer - Players, PC Cafes, Community Organizers, Tournament Organizers
- Organizer goal - Fun, Organized, Social Play
- Prize Pool - must not exceed USD 2,000 in cash or USD 4,000 in non-cash prizes
- Participants - No more than 64 teams participating in a single tournament
- Esports Team Community Tournament
- Organizer - Professional esports team
- Organizer goal - Tournaments to help esports teams to drive fandom and build communities
- Sponsorship - must not exceed USD 10,000
- Participants - No more than 128 teams participating in a single tournament. No players affiliated with any professional esports team including players affiliated to the host
- Branded Tournament
- Organizer - Tournament platforms, live streaming platforms, social media platforms, brands, Influencers
- Prize Pool - Approved on a case-by-case basis
- Participants - Approved on a case-by-case basis
- Collegiate Tournament
- Organizer - Official Licensed Partners of Riot Games Southeast Asia and collegiate tournament organizer
- Scale - Official collegiate tier competitive ecosystem
- Tier 1 Tournament
- Organizer - Official Licensed Partners of Riot Games Southeast Asia
- Scale - Official semi-pro circuit, part of the Global Competitive Ecosystem

On the condition that you follow all of the guidelines described in this policy (the “Guidelines”), our Legal Jibber Jabber, and our Terms of Service, Riot Games, Inc. (“Riot”, “we”, or “us”) grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferable, revocable, limited license (“Community Competition License”) for you to organize and operate a Wild Rift or competition (the “Competition”), but we may take action or otherwise shut down any competition at any time if we decide it violates or misinterprets these Guidelines, our Terms of Service, or any of our other policies, promotes or represents anything contrary to our Values, or otherwise uses our intellectual property (“IP”) inappropriately.
