Welcome mateys, to the Patch 3.2 Preview Refresh! If you missed it, we’ve got you covered with a recap of all the big announcements we’re bringing ashore to the Rift during our Time & Tide update! You can also watch it here!

We’ll be back in a few days with the Patch Notes for 3.2, which will have more details along with the dates and times of their release, and of course balance changes.

ELEMENTAL RIFT

Elemental Rift will be returning in a limited game mode again this patch! The first test will look a little different than the versions you played during our 3.1 patch cycle. It will streamline the Dragon system, and each Elemental Dragon will grant a single buff that will grow for each Dragon you slay. Read more about Elemental Rift and the coming versions in our /dev: Elemental Rift on May 16.

LEAVER MITIGATION

We know how frustrating it is when someone swipes out of your game, leaving you and your teammates at a disadvantage, so this patch we will be rolling out two new features to help combat this.

05092022_WRNewContentPatch3.1Article_Remake.jpg

If one of your teammates disconnects at the start of the game, you’ll have the option to remake your game. A remake will result in a loss for the absent player, but for everyone else, it’ll be like the game never happened.

We’ll also be rolling out leaver mitigations for losses. Any players who leave in Ranked will now be penalized more harshly on their climb. When this happens, the rest of the team will receive more Ranked Fortitude or less VP.

GAMEPLAY

We’re adding in two new keystones and six new minor runes this patch!

Lethal Tempo will be the perfect new rune for champions who love to auto attack, as it will gradually increase your attack speed when in combat. If you’ve played League PC before, you might have gotten a bit of deja vu, but Kraken Slayer will be joining Wild Rift as a new keystone as well!

Scorch, Giant Slayer, Nullifying Orb, Ultimate Shield, Nimbus Cloak, and Demolish will be the new minor runes also debuting this patch. Look out for a /dev from one of our designers on all of these new runes and how they’ll be shaking up your loadouts in a few days.

We’ll also be introducing Control Wards as a new trinket option! They’ll help you detect any pesky invisible enemy traps and wards, but can be destroyed without a Sweeping Lens. You’ll also only be able to have one on the map at a time.

MATCHMAKING

We did not talk about it in the video but we do want to make a note here about matchmaking. Back in February and early March we made a few changes to various matchmaking systems to address fairness concerns in high-skilled ranked play. These changes were designed to be short-term fixes that act as a bridge until we can make larger changes in the future. We were initially planning on implementing more changes in 3.2, but the initial short-term fixes were more successful than we expected and as future planning came together we saw that the changes likely to come in 3.3 already address the additional issues in a new way. In short, you can expect larger changes to ranked matchmaking not in this patch, but rather in patch 3.3.

WILD PASS

We hope our private eye is as good as she claims to be… it looks like someone is right on her trail. Dream Raider Nasus will be making his debut and haunting your dreams this Wild Pass!

EVENTS

We’ll be experimenting with new ways to get content in Wild Rift this year. And during the Time & Tide update, we’ll be rolling out an event in some regions that is themed around the upcoming Cosmic skins for Master Yi and Lulu.

You’ll be able to earn or buy tickets during this event that can be exchanged for tokens that can be immediately redeemed for Cosmic-styled goodies and skins, and also a chance to test your luck and get cool stuff even quicker. There will still be daily missions you can complete, and as you play through them we’ll be giving away free tokens. We’ll also be releasing an article with more details on this event before it launches.

ICONS 2022

The first-ever Wild Rift Global Icons tournament will be taking place in just over a month! Mark your calendars for June 14, because you won’t want to miss out on seeing these teams compete for the first ever Icons trophy!
