Wild Rift Patch Notes 5.1a

Come one come all, It’s Viego time.

Long have we awaited, our favorite Ruined Monarch is finally here on the Rift (soon™). And with him, a first for Wild Rift: Final Stand, our newest PvE mode. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve got new events, skins, and Companions. Last but not least, your regularly scheduled balance updates are here as well. Welcome to patch 5.1a.

NEW

NEW CHAMPIONS

VIEGO, THE RUINED KING

Once ruler of a long-lost kingdom, Viego perished over a thousand years ago when his attempt to bring his wife back from the dead triggered the magical catastrophe known as the Ruination. Transformed into a powerful, unliving wraith tortured by an obsessive longing for his centuries-dead queen, Viego now stands as the Ruined King, controlling the deadly Harrowings as he scours Runeterra for anything that might one day restore her, and destroying all in his path as the Black Mist pours endlessly from his cruel, broken heart.

Our first PVE mode is here! Play as Kalista as she fights off waves of the Iron Order. Will you be the last one standing? Of course, we also have missions to complete and goodies to claim!

CHAMPION CHANGES

ASHE

The recent item changes have worked well in Ashe’s favor. These adjustments will make sure she's still in line with other Marksmen.

Ranger's Focus

  • Attack Speed increase: 30/40/50/60%→ 25/35/45/55%
  • Arrow Barrage Damage: 120/125/130/135% Attack Damage → 115/120/125/130% Attack Damage

EKKO

For someone who’s able to manipulate time, you would think Ekko would be able to clear Jungle camps faster. We’re speeding it up for him to give him more time to spend helping out his Lanes.

Z-DRIVE RESONANCE

  • Damage to monsters: 140% → 155%

TIMEWINDER

  • Initial Damage: 70/90/110/130 + 30% Ability Power → 85/105/125/145 + 30% Ability Power
  • Returning Damage: 50/85/120/155 + 60% Ability Power → 65/100/135/170 + 60% Ability Power

CHRONOBREAK

  • Health Regen: 100/150/200+50% Ability Power → 150/200/250+50% Ability Power

KINDRED

Delivering death no matter what stage of the game, Kindred has been tumbling through their enemies like it’s nothing. We’re tweaking their numbers to keep them consistent with their fellow Junglers.

  • Base Attack Damage: 66 → 62
  • Attack Damage per level: 4 → 3

DANCE OF ARROWS

  • Attack Speed increase: 35% + 5% Mark of the Kindred → 20% + 3% Mark of the Kindred

LAMB'S RESPITE

  • Allies Heal: 200/275/350 → 150/200/250
  • Self Heal: 100/125/150 → 50/50/50

LILLIA

Lillia is a champion that excels at flexibility and mobility. However, her recent performance has been underwhelming. We’re tweaking her numbers to make sure she can stand her ground, especially in early skirmishes.

BLOOMING BLOWS

  • Movement Speed: 3/4/5/6% + 0.02% Ability Power → 4.5/5.5/6.5/7.5% + 0.02% Ability Power
  • Damage: 35/50/65/80 + 35% Ability Power → 40/60/80/100 + 45% Ability Power
  • Outer Edge True Damage: 35/50/65/80 + 35% Ability Power → 40/60/80/100 + 45% Ability Power

WATCH OUT! EEP!

  • Damage: 60/100/140/180 + 40% Ability Power → 70/110/150/190 + 40% Ability Power
  • Center Damage: 120/200/280/360 + 80% Ability Power → 140/220/300/380 + 80% Ability Power

Nunu & Willump

Our best friend duo hasn’t been strong enough to hold their own against their enemies. We’re making sure they can tank through whatever might come their way in their adventures!

CALL OF THE FRELJORD

  • Attack Speed: 30% → 40%
  • Movement Speed: 10% → 15%

CONSUME

  • Heal: 80/115/150/185 + 70% Ability Power + 9% bonus Health → 80/115/150/185 + 70% Ability Power + 11% bonus Health

OLAF

How can we expect Olaf to rush through enemy formation when he can’t survive the initial onslaught of damage? These changes will make sure he’s less a glass cannon and more a tough-as-steel warrior.

Berserker Rage

  • Maximum Attack Speed: 60% ~ 100% → 70% ~ 110%
  • Maximum Physical Vamp: 10% ~ 25%→ 15% ~ 30%

Vicious Strikes

  • Shield: 35/70/105/140 + 13% missing Health → 35/70/105/140 + 15% missing Health

Ragnarok

  • Armor and Magic Resist: 10/20/30 → 25/35/45

SAMIRA

After the last patch, Samira has stepped up against her enemies considerably. We’re tweaking her numbers slightly to make sure she doesn’t snowball out of control if she is to gain an early advantage.

FLAIR

  • Damage: 20/25/30/35 + 95/110/125/140% Attack Damage → 15/20/25/30 + 90/105/120/135% Attack Damage

INFERNO TRIGGER

  • Damage: 5/20/35 + 60% Attack Damage → 5/15/25 + 50% Attack Damage

TWITCH

Twitch is quite strong in the mid-to-late game which can lead to him snowballing out of control, making him difficult to counter. We’re tweaking his numbers slightly so his opponents have more ways to fight back when Twitch gets ahead.

  • Armor per level: 4 → 3.5
  • Growth magic resistance: 1 → 0.5

CONTAMINATE

  • Base Damage: 30/40/50/60 → 25/35/45/55
  • Damage per stack of Deadly Venom: 20/25/30/35 + 33% Bonus Attack Damage + 20% Ability Power → 15/20/25/30 + 30% Bonus Attack Damage + 18% Ability Power

SPRAY AND PRAY

  • Subsequent Targets Damage reduction: 10% → 15%
  • Damage reduction Limit: 60% → 40%

YASUO

Yasuo’s blade has felt more like a gentle breeze these days. These changes will hopefully remind his enemies of the true power of his sword.

  • Base Health regen: 9 → 12

Steel Tempest

  • Damage: 20/55/90/125 + 100% Attack Damage → 25/60/95/130 + 100% Attack Damage

Last Breath

  • Damage: 250/400/550 + 150% bonus Attack Damage → 250/400/550 + 160% bonus Attack Damage

ZOE

Zoe has been overwhelming her opponents, especially in the early game. We’re adjusting her numbers to give her enemies a chance to catch their breath.

PADDLE STAR!

  • Least possible Damage: 35/75/115/155 + (3 ~ 52) + 60% Ability Power → 30/65/100/135 + (3 ~ 52) + 60% Ability Power
  • Highest possible Damage: 87.5/187.5/287.5/387.5 + (7.5 ~ 130) + 150% Ability Power → 75/162.5/250/337.5 + (7.5 ~ 130) + 150% Ability Power

SLEEPY TROUBLE BUBBLE

  • Damage: 40/95/150/205 + 50% Ability Power → 30/80/130/180 + 50% Ability Power
  • True Damage: 40/95/150/205 + 50% Ability Power→ 30/80/130/180 + 50% Ability Power

PORTAL JUMP

  • Cooldown: 10/8/6s → 12/9/6s


GAMEPLAY CHANGES

ITEMS

FORCE OF NATURE

We’re boosting the cost-efficiency of Force of Nature so it can become a more desirable pickup when you’re against an AP-heavy team.

  • Total Price: 2850g → 2750g
  • Magic resistance: 50 → 55
  • Absorb: Taking ability damage from enemy champions grants 1 stack of Steadfast, max 6 → 4 stacks. At maximum stacks, gain 10% Movement Speed and reduce all incoming magic damage by 25%.

RUIN - BLADE OF THE RUINED KING

The health reduction has been more impactful than intended, especially in the early game. We’re adjusting it so it’s still a valuable pickup, but toning it down just a bit.

  • Repentance: Reduces your base Health by 10 - 100 → 5 - 80

RUIN - INFINITY EDGE

We're also adjusting the health reduction that Infinity Edge grants as it was stronger than we intended.

  • Self-Destruction: Reduces your base Health by 10 - 100 → 5 - 80
  • Infinity: Critical Strikes deal 225% → 220% damage instead of 175%

RUIN - RABADON’S DEATHCAP

We’re adjusting the numbers of Rabadon’s Deathcap to make it a more reasonable pick up.

  • Cinders: Reduces your base Health by 10-100 → 5-80
  • Overkill: Increases Ability Power by 25-55% → 25-50% (based on level)

THORNMAIL

We’ve increased the cost efficiency of Thornmail to make it a reliable item for pickup when you’re combating champions with a lot of Health Regen or Healing.

  • Maximum Health: 100 → 200
  • Thorns: When struck by an enemy champion's basic attack, deal 20 + 6% bonus armor + 1% → 2% bonus Health as magic damage to the attacker and inflict 50% Grievous Wounds for 3s

TERMINUS

We’re introducing an upper limit for the amount of Armor and Magic Penetration gained with Terminus.

  • Juxtaposition: [New] The upper limit of armor and magic penetration rates is 40% when equipped with Terminus

LIGHT - YOUMUU’S GHOSTBLADE

We’re adjusting the amount of Armor Penetration Youmuu’s grants so it’s a more desirable choice when facing a team that is stacking armor.

  • Momentum: Momentum grants up to 50 Movement Speed and 5-10 → 3-6 armor penetration at 100 stacks

RUNE CHANGES

KEYSTONE: FIRST STRIKE

We’re adjusting the damage it provides to make sure it’s not overwhelming when combined with other items and runes.

  • Dealing damage to enemy champions grants you 5 gold and First Strike for 3s, allowing you to deal 9% → 7% bonus true damage to them

KEYSTONE: EMPOWERMENT

Since Kraken Slayer has been removed, sustained damage from Marksmen has taken a hit. We’re buffing Empowered Attack to empower Marksmen to continue their skirmishes.

  • When the target is Vulnerable, your basic attacks deal bonus 6 - 20 → 8 - 24 true damage
  • When the target exits the Vulnerable state, Vulnerability enters a 6s → 4s cooldown

GAMEPLAY

IXTAL SCORPION

  • Players won’t be able to summon Ixtal Scorpion when they have taken damage within the last 2 seconds.
