Patch 7.2 Enchantment System Rework

In Patch 7.2, we’re overhauling the Enchantment System

Enchantment System New Era: An In-Depth Look at Patch 7.2

In the latest episode of our Patch 7.2 Preview, Neo, John, and David shared the thinking behind one of the biggest gameplay changes arriving this patch: the Enchantment System Overhaul.

In the video, the team discussed why they decided to rebuild the system and some more insights. If you haven't watched the video yet, here's a deeper look at the philosophy behind the update as well as a full list of the Enchantment changes arriving in Patch 7.2.

Why Overhaul Enchantments?

Over time, Enchantments have evolved into powerful, low cost tools that can be purchased across nearly every role and champion. While this created flexibility, it also reduced meaningful decision making and blurred the intended strengths and weaknesses of the different champions and their roles. So, the goal of the overhaul is to make Enchantments more situational and role specific. Rather than every champion defaulting to the same handful of options, you should be making deliberate choices based on your champion, role, and the needs of the match you’re playing.

Clearer Strengths and Weaknesses

One of the examples the team shared is stasis. It is one the most universally valuable defensive tools in the game and often becomes the default answer to a wide range of situations. With Patch 7.2, access to Stasis is being restricted as part of a broader effort to ensure classes retain their intended vulnerabilities and strengths.

We didn’t aim this change at any one role though. Carries, fighters, assassins, and juggernauts will all see adjustments to the Enchantments available to them. With the overall goal to make all roles healthier with clearer counterplay and more meaningful strategic decisions.

Which is why Enchantments are no longer upgrades attached to boots, instead they are now standalone items. This change will help us simplify the overall item system, while creating stronger progression and better purchase decisions throughout your matches. With that context in mind, let's take a look at every Enchantment arriving in Patch 7.2.
